Slovak House: 5 Things We Know So Far

With 100 days to go until Paris 2024, the Slovak Olympic and Sports Committee (SOŠV) and Slovakia Travel have announced that for the first time in history, they'll be hosting a publicly-accessible Slovak House or "Slovenský dom".

What We Know: Location

Slovak House will be located at Ventrus avec Vue, a restaurant in Parc de la Villette. This "North East" Cluster is turning out to be the most populous area of Hospitality Houses during Paris 2024. From the press release:

"Slovenský dom will grow in the restaurant Ventrus and its immediate surroundings. Unlike in the past, it will also have outdoor spaces. Part of the created area will serve as a dynamic and pleasant space for the Slovak Olympic expedition."

Parc de la Villette is located in northern Paris, in the 19th arrondissement. It's the 3rd-largest park in the city, totalling a whopping 55.5 hectares and is known as the largest deconstructed building in the world.

What We Know: It's Public

For the first time in history, Slovak House will be open to the public. From the press release:

"'The Slovak House will be open to the public for the first time. The connection of athletes, fans and supporters of the Slovak Olympic team will create a unique atmosphere in the house,' said Jozef Liba, general secretary of the SOŠV."

The SOŠV has yet to announce the opening dates and hours for Slovak House, or whether tickets will be required to enter.

What We Know: The Program is to be Announced

Organizers have yet to reveal the programming details for Slovak House. From the renderings, it appears there will be indoor and outdoor spaces to lounge and sample Slovakian cuisine.

What We Know: Special Edition Pins!

In their press release, The SOŠV included a snapshot of some seemingly-special edition pins that will be on offer at Slovak House. This is the first Hospitality House at Paris 2024 to release a preview of their pins.

What We Know: Nearby Sport Events

The closest Paris 2024 sport events to Slovak House will be:

• Badminton and Rhythmic Gymnastics at La Chapelle Arena

• Artistic Swimming, Diving and Water Polo at at Centre Aquatique Olympique

• Athletics and Rugby at Stade de France
  

All of these venues are within 40 minutes of Slovak House on public transit.
