Canada House: Volunteer Applications are Open

Calling all Canada House fans: the volunteer application process has opened for Canada House at Paris 2024!

Like in Pyeongchang 2018, it is believed that the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) will host a Paris 2024 Hospitality House that is open to the public. Canada House was one of the most popular houses in Pyeongchang, with entrance tickets selling out on several days.

It has been rumoured that Canada House will be located at a venue in Parc de La Villette in the 19th arrondissement, but this has yet to be confirmed. Both France and Brazil have confirmed the locations of their Hospitality Houses, Club France and Casa Brasil, in this same area.

The Volunteer Email

On Monday April 17, 2023, the Canadian Olympic Committee sent an email blast to those who expressed interest in volunteering at Canada House in Paris.

"Hello! Thank you again for expressing interest in supporting our Canadian athletes on their Olympic journey. Your commitment to spreading the Olympic Movement is inspiring. You are receiving this email because you have expressed interest in receiving a notification when the application process opens for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. We are pleased to announce that the time has come! The deadline to apply is May 5th, 2023."

According to the Volunteer Application website, the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) is looking for volunteers in these four areas: Canada Olympic House, Business Team Operations, Digital and Outfitting.

Volunteer Perks

It seems like there are some pretty rad perks for volunteering for the Canadian Olympic Committee: a pre-event training program, meals and snacks throughout each volunteer shift, a Team Canada lululemon kit and a Volunteer Recognition Party!

Volunteers are responsible for covering all costs related to travel to/from Paris 2024, accommodation, meals when not volunteering and transportation while in Paris.

An interesting development: the Canadian Olympic Committee is partnering with a third-party organization that will support selected volunteers in securing lower-cost accommodations in Paris. In the application process, the COC notes this accommodation will cost EUR 210 per night, for a single-occupancy room.

The Canadian Olympic Committee also makes it clear that volunteers are not accredited by the Paris 2024 Organizing Committee and will not march in the Opening or Closing Ceremonies. (Although wouldn't that be cool?)

Volunteer Application Process

Interested volunteers are invited to apply between Monday April 17 and Friday May 5, 2023.
