Pride House: 5 Things We Know So Far

On May 17, Pride House was announced by the organizers of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, in partnership with the Fier-Play Association. The news comes on the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia.

What We Know: Three "Locations"

At Paris 2024, there will be three expressions of Pride House:

  • A "central" Pride House, which will host more permanent programming including festive, cultural, sports and educational offerings will be based

  • A "mobile" Pride House, which will travel to different venues and communities throughout the Games

  • And a "digital" Pride House, available online, making the experience accessible to all fans of Paris 2024, continuing on as a legacy after the Games

The location of the central Pride House will be Parc de la Villette, which is playing host to several other hospitality houses including Club France, Casa Brasil, Slovenia House, and Canada House.

What We Know: It's an Olympic and Paralympic Venue

The organizers of Pride House has confirmed it will be open at Parc de la Villette for both the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games:

During the Olympic Games, from July 27 to August 11, 2024, and during the Paralympic Games, from August 28 to September 8, 2024.

What We Know: It Has Three Key Objectives

Taking on additional meaning than a typical hospitality house, Paris 2024 organizers have declared three specific objectives for Pride House:

... Pride House is open to everyone who believes in the need for more inclusive sport, [organizing] around three objectives: Building awareness on the inclusion of LGBTI+ people in the world of sport by enabling them to express themselves from a dedicated space; Offering a space for celebrating the performances of LGBTI+ athletes by enabling them to meet their supporters; Leaving a more inclusive approach concerning LGBTI+ people in sport as a legacy for the international sporting movement.

What We Know: Nearby Sport Events

The closest Paris 2024 sport events to Pride House will be:

  • Badminton and Rhythmic Gymnastics at La Chapelle Arena

  • Artistic Swimming, Diving and Water Polo at at Centre Aquatique Olympique

  • Athletics and Rugby at Stade de France

All of these venues are within 40 minutes of Pride House on public transit.

What We Know: Nearby Hospitality Houses

Club France, Casa Brasil and Slovenia House will also be located within Parc de la Villette, a short walk away from Pride House.

Sweden Arena, hosted by the Swedish Olympic Committee, is the next closest confirmed hospitality house outside of Parc de la Villette. Sweden Arena will be located at MOB Hotel, 30 minutes west of Parc de la Villette via transit.
